I’m lost. Someone care to or able to explain to me why some people deserve a higher standard of healthcare than others do merely because they can afford it? I understand that theory when it comes to luxury SUVs and used AMC Pacers, but is it the same thinking behind being able to afford the right to life?
Fact is, if someone came up with the medical means to eradicate cancer by November 2016, and the government could actually fund it by taking all the money away from the caribous and polar bears and public TV without raising taxes – if it was labeled “ObamaCure” there are shitloads of people who would fight it to the death. Call it “GOP Juice” and others would hold it in the same reverence as Jesus’ blood on the Cross.
Our nation is a bunch of psychotically partisan morons on both sides of the philosophical fence. I don’t plan on crossing any fence I see standing in front of me, but I certainly wouldn’t mind reaching over that fence to snag a particularly tasty looking apple, and I surely wouldn’t mind if my neighbor helped himself to one of our peaches.
The Affordable Care Act is and has been law, the March 31st deadline has come and gone, and there are still people bound and determined to get it undone, even if they have to wait till 2016. They’re going to find something immoral or illegal about it some way or another and have it reversed or repealed by hook or by crook …
… and I think I just figured out what the problem was, is and will remain to be:
Most of the people that I’ve come across who despise it from every single angle shouldn’t even worry about it ’cause they all have insurance through their work. Let’s face it: if the idea was to get six to seven million people signed up, it means there’s a hell of a lot more people who are doing fine as it is.
And many of those people condemning it from every single which way and hiding behind the economic issues actually believe that they deserve to have a higher standard of health care, a higher quality of health care than that deserved by (take your pick) Mexicans / Asians / Blacks / “white trash” / ghetto trash / Democrats / Liberals / gun control advocates / environmentalists / Welfare recipients / LGBT perverts / anyone who disagrees with them.
Got news for them: they don’t deserve it.
And they haven’t earned it.
Maybe they have earned the fancier car or the larger house or the designer clothes or the newest Samsung Galaxy that are beyond the reach of less enterprising folks, but they’ve earned nothing more than a myriad of luxuries. And if one of those luxuries is Cedars Sinai instead of Lodi Memorial, cool. So be it. If you can afford coverage that will get you the best cardiac surgeon going instead of a second-year resident, GO FOR IT!!!
But it pisses people off that the “low-lifes” they so contemptuously look down upon will have the same “right” to live long and healthy lives as they do.
And for those of you who think it’s tyrannical to be forced to buy medical insurance, if you’re that serious and set in your beliefs – stick a spine up your ass and cancel your auto insurance. It’s a law you need to have that, at least enough to cover whatever damage you caused to somebody else’s vehicle. If that’s all you carry and you total your Escalade or Lexus, tough shit. You have to pay off the finance company and get yourself a new car because you refused to be forced to buy auto insurance.
Then your home insurance.
Both of those are there for the same reason as health insurance – to keep you covered. You. YOU. YOU, because if your car gets totaled or your house burns down, who do you expect to pay for it?
You don’t think you should be forced to buy health insurance? Tell your boss to quit paying your premiums, then hey… you need an appointment with a doctor to check your swollen ‘nads? Get ready to fork out four hundred dollars if that’s what the going rate is. And don’t bitch about having to pay four dollars per pill for some generic prescription you need for the high blood pressure the 2012 election caused you.
It’s very simply that some people who are insured to the tits don’t want to see health care affordable and available to the aforementioned demographics that haven’t “deserved it” or “earned it”.
Let the bastards die.
You folks are the “Death Panels” you said the Liberal Democratic President had in the works.
It’s not Obama’s Socialist agenda that gave that right to those on the lower rungs of the socio-economic ladder:
God gave it to them a long, long time ago.
And His son (who so many of those people have taken to heart) agreed with that.
Don’t recall Jesus going around and healing the kings and rich folk of the times and ignoring the street people.
And no, I’m not comparing Obama to Christ.
Just comparing their beliefs.
